Lighthouse provides a range of services designed to support individuals who have been bereaved by suicide. The agency was set-up to help prevent suicide, promote positive mental health, and provide support services to those who have been bereaved by suicide.
Some individuals who are bereaved by suicide express a need for immediate support. Others may choose to access support at later stages. It could be several months after the suicide or further down the line, triggered by significant anniversaries, or family events, or by seemingly unrelated happenings. The type of support and how long it will be needed for often varies from person to person and Lighthouse offers a range of services which have been planned and designed to meet bereaved individual’s emerging and changing needs.
The services specific to supporting those bereaved by suicide are:
One to One Bereavement Support
This is a postvention service is solely focussed on provision of emotional support to individuals whose main issue is suicidal grief.
Complementary Therapy (Aromatherapy Massage)
This is a non-talking service, and aims to reduce stress and tension, and aid self-care.
Suicidal Bereavement Support Group
This is a facilitated group offers those bereaved by suicide to meet others, share experiences, feelings and education on grief and self-care.
