Whether you're coming for counselling, crisis or bereavement support, this is your space. You can talk about any subject you like. If you feel it's straying off topic, say so, and direct the topic back to what you want to talk about.

Our service is not advice giving. You will explore what you want to with but the work balance should be around 80% from you. Our job is to help you find your own insight and resolution. Some approaches or interventions offer tools that can help alleviate distress, and we might show you mindfulness techniques or grounding exercises to help manage upsetting thoughts if appropriate. Sometimes we can also direct you to other services that can help.

This depends on what bring and the issues you want to resolve. Oftentimes, the first benefit from speaking with someone is an emotional discharge. Some people report feeling lighter and gain some sense of clarity and hope. The aim is to help you find better ways to understand yourself, or to bring about changes to help you manage the way you think or behave to improve your mental and emotional well-being.

If you don’t feel that it’s not the right person for you, just let us know and we will help you find another one. Sometimes it’s as simple as you would prefer to work with someone of the same gender or similar age. We will always do our best to find you the right person.

We appreciate that when people come for support, they feel ready to start, so we try not to have long waiting lists and we’ll do our best to get our services underway quickly.
Initially we will offer you 6 sessions if you are attending counselling, art therapy, and complementary therapies. or 4 if its crisis support. Our Suicide Bereavement Support Service offers longer term support. But if it is felt that you need more time to work on issues this can be discussed. At the end we hope that clients will be in a place they are feeling better than when they started.
